HUDSON VALLEY WEDDING
The Best Industrial Wedding Venue in Upstate New York
Gab and John's Unforgettable Basilica Hudson Wedding
Nestled in the artistic haven of Hudson, New York, Gab and John's wedding at Basilica Hudson was nothing short of a cinematic experience. With its unique industrial setting, this wedding was a perfect blend of moody modernity, humor, and deep connection. Imagine a venue that exudes industrial chic with a twist of artistic flair – that's Basilica Hudson located in Hudson, NY in the southern Catskills. Owned by two artists, this venue boasts tall, painted brick walls, super high ceilings, and an indoor swing that adds a touch of whimsy. The checkerboard dance floor and the mixed-match chairs set on risers create an eclectic and intimate ceremony space. The bridal suite upstairs and the onsite kitchen space further add to the convenience and charm of this unique venue.
The seamless flow of the day's events was expertly managed by Jeanne Stark of Hudson Valley Ceremonies. Jeanne’s ability to orchestrate this beautiful day ensured that everything, from the first look to the last dance, unfolded without a hitch.
Kind Words from Gabby + John:
“Working with Sam was one of the best decisions we made while planning our wedding. As soon as we spoke, I knew she was a perfect match for us. Not only is she incredibly talented (but that's obvious, I mean look at her photos), but Sam is a gem of a human and was an absolute joy to work with. She was able to magically capture every single special moment, all while keeping me calm and being my biggest hype girl (at both the connection session and wedding). I really never knew how big of a role a photographer plays in a wedding and having her by my side throughout the day made everything better. I truly can't wait for my next big life event so I can hang out with... I mean, hire Sam to photograph again.” - GABBY + JOHN
Getting Ready in the Basilica Bridal Suite:
As Gab was getting ready in an Air Bnb, her transformation was enhanced by the skilled hands of La Tua Bella Beauty Bar. Their expertise in make-up artistry brought out Gab's natural beauty, perfectly complementing her stunning wedding dress from BHLDN. The moment was filled with emotions, especially when her dad, teary-eyed, saw her looking like a vision in her gown. Meanwhile, John and his groomsmen enjoyed a relaxed atmosphere, sipping fine scotch in the suite at Basilica Hudson, setting a fun and chill vibe for the day ahead.
First Look at the Park in Hudson, NY:
The first look was a casual moment in a park across the street. Straying from the original plan due to fishermen, I chose a spot that caught my eye, letting the natural light and surroundings to set the stage. This approach led to genuine, unposed expressions of love and anticipation. Gab and John love being together so it was really easy and natural to photograph them.
The Indoor Ceremony at the Basilica:
The Charm of the Chair Room
The side room at Basilica Hudson transformed into a magical indoor ceremony space. With long ivory fabric cascading from the ceiling and candles lining the arbor space, the setting was intimate and enchanting. A good friend led the ceremony, adding a personal touch to the day.
The ceremony and reception spaces were brought to life with exquisite floral arrangements by Floral Fantasies by Sara. Her artful creations added an enchanting touch to the industrial backdrop of Basilica Hudson, perfectly echoing the day's romantic essence.
Last Light Portraits at the Basilica
Capturing that Just Married Energy
As the day neared its golden hour, we captured stunning last light portraits in front of Basilica Hudson. The bridge and the passing train in the backdrop, coupled with the wind playing with Gab's veil, created spellbinding silhouettes and moments of pure laughter. I love taking time out after the ceremony to capture the "Just Married" energy. I try to keep these post -ceremony shoots to 10 minutes or less so that my couples can join the majority of their Cocktail Hour. I WANT you to be AT your party as much as you do!
The Indoor Reception at Basilica Hudson:
Industrial Modern Vibe with a Swing for Grown Ups!
The reception was a highlight reel of emotions and memorable moments. From heartfelt speeches to Gab and her mom rocking nike hi-tops on the dance floor, every moment was a testament to the day's spirited vibe.
The delicious cuisine that kept everyone energized and delighted was masterfully prepared by Chef Jo from Local 111. Their culinary expertise was evident in every bite, from the exquisite appetizers to the sumptuous main courses.
The unconventional cake-cutting, with Gab and John sharing a chunk of cake in the most casual yet intimate manner, was a scene straight out of a romantic comedy. The unconventional cake-cutting moment was made even more special with a beautiful creation from Annabelle's Village Bake Shop. Their cake not only looked spectacular but also tasted heavenly, adding a sweet note to Gab and John’s memorable day.
Dance Party at the Industrial Wedding Venue:
From Big Bands to DJ’s- Enough Space for Everyone
The rhythm of the night was set by the fantastic tunes by James Arnold from 74 Events. Their DJ kept the dance floor alive, perfectly tuning into the crowd's energy and keeping spirits high throughout the celebration. I love using my camera with the lights to create images that feel like did to be there. This party was awesome for that! When Gab put on her jean jacket we had a little dance party with her and John in one the lounge nooks at the Basilica.
